You're always reading about finding the one and meeting new people but what if dating is the last thing you need in your life?
Sometimes you need to fly solo and experience life without any additional attachments. Here are six reasons why you shouldn't be dating.
- Your Rediscovering Yourself: You're re-evaluating your life and gaining a better perspective. You do not need someone new in your life while you're rediscovering who you are and ultimately what you want out of life. Know you before you try to figure out someone else.
- Your Past Relationship is Still Fresh: Any relationship, whether it was short or long-term, should be treated as a chapter in your life. Come to an ending point before you get back into the dating scene.
- You're Still in Love With Your Ex: If you're still in love with your ex, a new successful relationship is not going to happen. You can't fall in love when you're already in love with someone else. Plus it's not fair to your new beau, if you're not being emotionally faithful.
- You're Overcoming an Addiction: Whenever you're trying to find the fortitude to overcome an addiction, the last thing you need is a replacement for your addiction. Dating is not concrete and the possible diseaster could be the one thing that sends you over the edge. Wait to date once you're more stable and have reached a milestone in your sobriety.
- You're Moving: Why put yourself through a Nicholas Sparks scenario of inevitable sadness? If you're moving, in the near future, do yourself a favor and save yourself the emotional turmoil. When you're meant to find your soul mate you will. Be patient!
- Your Kids Aren't Ready: Your children are your number one priority. Give your kids a reasonable amount of time to be comfortable with you dating. Be patient and allow them to heal from any past experiences that concern your prior relationships. Remember that their happiness and acceptance will effect your emotional well being.
