Are you looking out for a solution to ease out the crazy time you experience every morning with your kids while waking them up? Sometimes, the children could be hard nuts to crack especially when they have to leave their cozy beds for the morning routine.
Here are some tips to simplify the process
#1 Be An Early Bird Yourself
Children love to emulate the family members and especially their parents. May be Tommy would not wash his hands before eating a meal in spite of telling him the fourth time to do so, but he would always wash his hands if everyone in the family does so before sitting at the dining table. So get up early and be a sorted and organized parent yourself. In this manner, your child would inculcate the habit naturally and would also hold a more respectful image of yours in his mind.
#2 Keep A Simple Yet Disciplined Routine
Make sure your child knows that waking up on time and doing the morning chores properly is part of the disciplined lifestyle which benefits the people greatly in the long run. However, do not make the routine too complicated for him to understand and follow through. Avoid setting limitations on him and making him feel guilty even when if he has woken up five minutes later than the set time. Schedule long showers for the weekends. Also, do not force the child to engage in physical exercises immediately, just because the neighborhood kids do so. Let him run his own race, else he would start rising up late deliberately.
#3 Condition Your Child Psychologically To Get Up Early
Tell him stories or read out the verses where the benefits of rising up early have been mentioned in a fun and creative manner. Encourage your child to watch videos or movies which lay emphasis on the advantages reaped by early risers and early bed goers. Instead of nagging him all the time, make him learn these things through creative means.
#4 Avoid Putting A Dreadful and Annoying Alarm Tone
Nothing turns off your child more than waking up to a horribly annoying and noisy alarm. Even if the child has resolved to wake up happy the previous night before sleeping, this kind of environment would surely dampen his spirits. Hence make sure you choose a nice and soft song which feeds the fantasy of your child, a soothing music or a powerful affirmation which makes the child believe in the goodness of the Universe and the magic of the day he has woken up to.
#5 NEVER Shout and Pull Him Out Of His Sleep
While your level of frustration and anger is completely understandable when your child is just not budging from the bed irrespective of you calling out to him several times, never shout at him or create a tearful drama which would petrify his soul. Children who have been brought up in such environment either lose self confidence and become negative thinkers due to cringing in fear and guilt all the time, or they start rebelling and losing respect for their parents who always subject them to such toxic emotions. Sometimes such tendencies result in frequent night outs during his teens, as he would subconsciously want to keep his parents at bay.
#6 Make The Bathroom Routine Fun For Him
Buy him a flashy pink or yellow colored toothbrush with his favorite cartoon character on it, get a separate brush stand for him which has animated pictures. If your child has a dreamy and soft side to his personality, get the brush cases which have artificial aquariums studded on their surface. Make sure he eats well at night and prevent him from eating foods which cause constipation otherwise the potty habits are really going to give him and you great trouble. Play an energetic music while he is in the shower and make his bathing tub look as interesting as possible.
#7 Do Not Make Breakfast A Battle For Him
Children tend to avoid the situations in which they feel pinned down or which restrict their naturally free energy. Do not make him feel that he has to finish the cereal along with the milk and the fruits kept on the side. Instead, tell him how colorful the fruits are and the reason for the sweetness of the milk is becauseWinnie the Pooh has put in the magical honey into it, as a gift for him from the bear’s side. And bingo, there you go! He would gobble up the entire thing in minutes. See what interests your child and make his meal healthy as well as fun for him.
#8 Make Sure He Has Completed His Homework The Night Before
Children often tend to cook up excuses for not waking up, because they wish to escape from school. And very often this has to do with the homework part of their schedule. If your child would not complete his homework or anything related to school beforehand, he would always stick to fear and would try every gimmick to escape from school. So personally check his school diaries and note books to see what is going on.
#9 Make His School Uniform and Other Stuff Ready
In order to avoid the mad time of the morning when waking up your child, dressing him up and feeding him are huge tasks already, at least do not make the mistake of being unprepared yourself. Make sure you have sorted out those pair of socks, his school uniform is clean and well ironed. Also check if his shoes are mended and he does not have holes in his school bag. Lunch box should be washed beforehand instead of resting inside the school bag till the next morning.
